Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) is a process employed in MEMS manufacturing to planarize thin films. It is employed to reduce film thickness variation over a surface, to improve related processes, for example, wafer bonding. The dynamics of this system is governed by a set of variables, such as pressure, processing time, polishing slurry and type of silicon oxide.
