Silex Microsystems Appoints Peter Himes as Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances

Industry Veteran Joins Silex to Help Drive its Next Wave of Growth in the Rapidly Expanding MEMS Market

Järfälla, Sweden and BOSTON, Mass., October 4, 2011 — Silex Microsystems, the world’s largest pure-play MEMS foundry, today announced the appointment of Peter Himes as Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances. Mr. Himes brings Silex more than 25 years of experience in the semiconductor and foundry markets and will report to CEO Gary Johnson, with responsibility for the company’s marketing, corporate communications, and strategic alliances. Tomas Bauer, previously head of Sales and Marketing, will now focus his efforts as Vice President, Sales and Business Development, to reflect Silex accelerating sales momentum with its growing global customer base.

Mr. Himes joins Silex at a time of significant growth. Mr. Himes extensive experience in sales and marketing, new business development and manufacturing for linear and mixed signal components and MEMS devices for major integrated device manufacturers, makes him uniquely qualified for this position. He began his career in engineering and over the fifteen years at National Semiconductor held a number of positions in marketing, corporate strategy development, sales, business development and general management. Following five years at Winbond Corporation in both sales and marketing roles, Mr. Himes was VP of Worldwide Sales for SiTime from 2008 through 2009 and President of QuickSil, a niche wafer foundry in Fremont California, until its sale at the end of 2010. He received a BSEE in solid state electronics from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
